Congratulations, or shall I say Best Wishes! Someone once told me you only say congratulations to a man and best wishes to a woman when finding of someones news of engagement. If you are still reading, you are one of the couples who is newly engaged. Perhaps a holiday engagement in front of friends and family or an engagement to celebrate the New Year. Now that the excitement has subsided, the realization of planning a wedding is starting to kick in. Not to worry, you are not the first and will certainly not be the last to be overwhelmed with all of the decisions to be made. And with the internet, you can find a checklist for absolutely every decision you have to make.
Enjoy this time. Make sure you do not allow yourself to get overwhelmed. This is your time to shine!
Choose a wedding date and location. Or at least narrow it down as soon as possible.
Decide a rough wedding budget and who will be paying for each aspect of the weekend.
Think about who you will want to include in your wedding party. Bridesmaids, Groomsmen, Flower Girls, Ring Bearer, Attendants
Have fun thinking of your wedding theme and style. Are you traditional, boho, simple…
Start scouring Pinterest for ideas. Personalized napkins, wedding sparklers, favors, food trucks, lemonade stand, customized seating charts and signs…the possibilities are endless.
Start a wedding guest list and use a program to keep addresses and names organized. I would suggest google docs for this. That way you can update it from anywhere and allow multiple people to have access.
Begin researching wedding venues, planners, photographers, videographers. Ask lots of questions, they are used to this!
But the most important aspect is to be yourself. Don’t allow your judgement to be clouded by what others want you to do for your wedding. This day belongs to you and you have control over every detail.
